DIOMEDES AND THE AGE OF HEROES

even een Grieks muziekje tussendoor

The song is ΠΟΤΕ ΜΟΥ ΔΕ ΜΙΛΩ ΓΙ΄ΑΥΤΗ (when don't I talk about her), by Pantelis Thalassinos (Παντελής Θαλασσινός). The paintings are mostly from Anselm Feuerbach.

The models are: Giorgos Bavelis, Charis Plousis, and Giorgos Chimonetos.

Diomedes (Διομήδης) was from Argos (Άργος), beautiful and ancient. Some of the pictures of the landscapes are of this great city, which according to scholars, was one of the homelands of Pelasgians. Diomedes was a great warrior and became a king at a young age.

He was perhaps even more important than Achilles in the narrative of the Trojan war. He also led 80 ships, coming close to Agamemnon's 100.

During the Trojan war, Athena gives him the ability to recognize gods when they assume human form. He injured Aphrodite and derailed many of the plans set by the gods favouring Troy.

Alluded to in the video is Metempsychosis, the ancient Greek belief in reincarnation believed to have originated with Orpheus, and championed later on by Pherecydes (Φερεχύδης)and Pythagoras (Πυθαγόρας).
